The second of four that Brandon Sanderson wrote during the pandemic has been revealed and the first six chapters are posted on his website. We won’t be discussing these chapters in this post, and probably won’t until the book is actually released. I’ve learned in past reveals that while it’s fun to get the first few chapters read early, I just end up wanting more and then it becomes harder to wait! So, now I wait until the whole book is released until I start reading.

The title of the book, as well as some background info on the story has been also revealed, and while it could be considered spoilers, it’s mostly for context of what the story will be about.

The title is The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England. Sanderson describes this as a Jason Bourne-type action story involving time travel. He uses the idea that the character is finding out who he is at the same time the audience is too. While he recognizes that this type of story has been done before, he promises to make it interesting and add some Sanderson flavor to it.

This is the second book that will be released during the Year of Sanderson and will be released in April 2023. This looks to be a non-Cosmere related story. You can find the announcements for Secret Project Book One by clicking on the link.
